Lughnasadh Torchlight Procession, supported by GoFibre

Sunday 4th August 2024
8.45pm

£10 including torch/ £4 without torch / Under 16s go free

We’re celebrating the summer harvest festival Lughnasadh at Fringe by the Sea on 4th August with a spectacular seaside Torchlight Procession, with performers from Beltane Fire Society and a special fire poem ceremony from artist Robert Montgomery.

Lugh was a popular sun god, worshipped throughout the Celtic world, and the community of Beltane Fire Society is helping us mark this ancient tradition with a magical parade in North Berwick.

All are invited to be part of the procession which will wind along the seafront of the town, with fire displays and performances along the route, culminating at the Lodge Grounds with a ceremonial torch giving.

Register for a space and carry your own torch to be part of the ‘river of fire’. You can also choose to be part of the procession without carrying a torch. Under 16s are welcome and go free but must be accompanied at all times by an adult age 18+.

– Witness the ancient practise of Neid Fire Lighting at The Glen Golf Club View Point

– Poet and artist Robert Montgomery makes a special appearance for his Fire Poem Ceremony

– Beltane Society performers light up the route as the procession moves along Marine Parade then up through the Lodge Grounds

– Local community groups will lead the procession

– Fundraising for local charities.
