After an enforced hiatus in 2020, Fringe By The Sea is set to return with a fresh new approach to its programming. We have always been a showcase for exceptional arts, bringing the very best of local, national and international talent to East Lothian for the enjoyment of locals and valued visitors alike. But now we are going further.
Founded by John, Jane and Eric in 2008, FBTS has always put community first and inclusion and cohesion is still at the heart of our not-for-profit festival. An exciting strand of participatory involvement through a wide range of art forms and interest points is being developed to connect communities through creativity, shining a spotlight on our people, culture, place and natural environment.
It is only through the incredible support of numerous community originations and volunteers, the backing of public institutions and private trust and generosity of passionate sponsors that we are able to succeed. Those, and of course you, the committed festival-goer, without whom there would be no Fringe By The Sea.
For August 2021, we are striving to bring the most diverse, though-provoking and fun-filled Fringe by The Sea yet. And rest assured, public safety will be at the forefront of our planning.
