GETTING HERE
We’re committed to making Fringe by the Sea as sustainable as possible, and we encourage all visitors to use public transport to get to the festival. North Berwick is well-served by frequent trains to and from Edinburgh, along with local bus connections to surrounding towns. During the festival, extra services are added by ScotRail and local bus operators to make your journey even easier.
Most events take place at the Lodge Grounds (2C East Rd, North Berwick, EH39 4HN), just a short walk from the train station and bus stops. If you have to travel by car, we recommend using the car parks identified below or parking on the outskirts of town and walking in. Accessible parking is available; more details can be found in our Accessibility section.

ScotRail makes getting to Fringe by the Sea a breeze with regular, direct services from Edinburgh to North Berwick. You can find timetables here, or download the GoSEStran app for up-to-the-minute train times across southeast Scotland.
For Fringe by the Sea 2025, ScotRail are planning to run a special service at around midnight (exact time to be confirmed) from North Berwick to Edinburgh every day except Sunday, with stops at Drem, Longniddry, Prestonpans, Wallyford, and Musselburgh. On Sunday 3rd and Sunday 10th August, this service will depart a little earlier (exact time to be confirmed). This page will be updated with detailed timings once confirmed.

Once you arrive, it’s just a 15-minute stroll to the festival site. The quickest route? Head down the pathway next to Emma Cross Interior shop, follow it to the far end of the High Street, turn right, and you’ll find The Lodge Grounds at the corner of Quality St and East Rd. Easy! East Coast Buses run regular services to and from North Berwick, making it easy to get to the festival. You can check the timetables for the X5, 124, and N124 services at:

The N124 nightbus is your perfect late-night companion on Saturdays and Sundays, operating through the night. This double-decker service makes it easy to catch a late show and travel to stops throughout East Lothian and Edinburgh.
In 2024, Eve Coaches extended their timetable on Fridays and Saturdays to ensure there was a last bus home for those heading to Dunbar and Haddington. We’re expecting the same fantastic service in 2025:

If you’re lucky enough to live in or near North Berwick, we’d love for you to walk or cycle to the festival! It’s a fantastic way to soak in the scenery and enjoy the fresh air. We’ll have bike racks on site and, for 2025, we’re even offering free bike health checks to make sure you’re ready to roll. Plus, North Berwick is part of the stunning John Muir Way—one of the best walking and cycling routes in the area, taking you right into the heart of town.

1) The corner of Quality Street and East Road
2) The top of Law Road
3) The north end of Lady Jane Road
4) The top of East Road/intersection with Dunbar Road
