NORTH BERWICK & THE LODGE GROUNDS

Fringe by the Sea is held in beautiful North Berwick, a seaside town in East Lothian with around 15,000 residents situated on the south shore of the Firth of Forth, only a 30 minute train ride from the capital.  As well as breathtaking beaches, a vibrant high street, a rich golfing history and a reputation as a Scottish food and drink hotspot it plays host to over 70,000 visitors at Scotland’s Freshest Festival, Fringe by the Sea, every August.

Our main venue for 2024 will be The Lodge Grounds which are are located in the centre of North Berwick, a 10-15 minute walk from the Train Station. The lower park is a formal garden with an aviary, the upper ‘early Victorian’ park is where FBTS is held – in amongst mature trees, a lavender garden, wild gardens, great views of North Berwick Law and the Bass Rock, and a children’s play area suitable for all ages.

At the heart of the festival, you’ll find the North Berwick Trust Hub. This is a freely accessible space open to everybody where you can eat, drink, enjoy free music from the Lighthouse Live Stage and a whole range of other on site entertainment.

Whilst the majority of FBTS24 events will be staged in covered venues in The Lodge Grounds, we are also planning to hold events in pop-up venues around the town including the Scottish Seabird Centre and North Berwick Library.

Our Box Office will be sited in the Lodge Grounds (open throughout the festival) and at North Berwick Library from mid June (during library opening hours) until the end of the festival.
