NORTH BERWICK & THE LODGE GROUNDS
Fringe by the Sea is set against the stunning backdrop of North Berwick, a charming seaside town in East Lothian, home to 15,000 residents and nestled on the southern shore of the Firth of Forth—just a short 35-minute train ride from Edinburgh. Recently crowned the Sunday Times Best Place to Live in the UK for 2024, North Berwick is known for its pristine beaches, vibrant high street, rich golfing legacy, and acclaimed food and drink scene. Every August, it draws over 80,000 visitors to Scotland’s freshest festival, Fringe by the Sea.
For 2025, our main venue returns to the picturesque Lodge Grounds, located just a 10-15 minute stroll from the train station in the heart of the town. This idyllic park features a formal lower garden with an aviary, while the upper ‘early Victorian’ section, surrounded by towering trees, fragrant lavender, and wild gardens, becomes the lively hub of the festival. Visitors will enjoy sweeping views of North Berwick Law and the dramatic Bass Rock, alongside a children’s play area catering to all ages.
At the centre of the action is the North Berwick Trust Hub—a welcoming, free-to-access space where you can relax, dine, and enjoy live music on the Lighthouse Live Stage, along with an array of other entertainment.
While most of the FBTS 2025 events will take place in covered venues within The Lodge Grounds, we’re also bringing the festival to life in pop-up locations around the town, including the Scottish Seabird Centre and North Berwick Library.
Our Box Office will be located at the Lodge Grounds throughout the festival, with an additional kiosk at North Berwick Library from mid-June (during library hours) until the festival concludes.
