D&M Brass Band: Brass by the Bass

Wednesday 7th August 2024
Big Top, Lodge Grounds
7pm – 8.30pm

£10/£6 (Under 16)

East Lothian’s D&M Brass Band, one of the leading brass bands in the UK, brings us a fun and varied family-friendly show featuring pop rock, jazz and the classics, conducted and hosted by musical director James Chamberlain. Come and see the ‘power of puffin’!

The band’s roots trace back to the local mining communities and the 1800s but suffered after the miners strike and closure of the pits. Dalkeith and Monktonhall bands combined to form D&M Brass Band in the 1980s, and are based in Prestonpans. James Chamberlain, a teacher of Music & Brass at George Watson’s College, plays trumpet/flugel with Castle Brass. He has conducted the D&M Brass Band since 2005, guiding them to victory at the Scottish Championships.
