‘Teenage Superstars’ / Grant McPhee / Radhika

Saturday 1st August 2026
The Dome
1pm -4pm

£10 / £5 Under 25

A 3-part Wavelength film/chat/gig event.

Enjoy a screening of ‘Teenage Superstars’ (1hr 32, 2017) in which director Grant McPhee delves into the pre-Britpop Scottish music scene, a fertile time that produced bands such as The Jesus and Mary Chain, The Pastels, Primal Scream and Teenage Fanclub.

McPhee teases out revealing interviews with the likes of Alan McGee and Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore to celebrate the raw and vital energy of this influential period for pop.

Film director and author Grant has worked for 20 years in the camera department on over 50 feature films and hundreds of hours of television. His own directing work includes Teenage Superstars, Far From the Apple Tree, Big Gold Dream, 2nd Unit Director and Cinematographer on Outlander; and a soon to be released trilogy of films on Liverpool’s 60s-80s underground arts scene. His books include the music documents Scene Within a Scene, Caledonia Screaming, Postcards From Scotland and Hungry Beat (with Douglas MacIntyre); and the soon to be released document on Scotland’s Film Industry, Caledonia Streaming.

Grant joins host Vic Galloway for a discussion after the film.

Followed by a performance from Glasgow dream-pop outfit Radhika, led by Radhika Meera Dade. Their new album Cine-Pop is a collection of songs that flow gently and easily in and out of each other – a suite, a short film, everything an album should be. The album features appearances from a number of Radhika’s family, friends and esteemed Glasgow musicians, including Mitch Mitchell (The Pastels), Gerard Love (Lightships/ ex-Teenage Fanclub), and Tracyanne Campbell (Camera Obscura). Radhika’s music takes inspiration from the films of David Lynch, her Indian heritage, and fellow pop artists Cocteau Twins, Broadcast, Felt, Strawberry Switchblade and The Go-Betweens.

Under 16s must be accompanied by an over 18.

This is a seated event (unreserved).
