In 2026, over 111,500 visitors flocked to Fringe by the Sea across 10 incredible days, making it one of Scotland’s most vibrant and diverse festivals.

Unlike many events that focus solely on headline acts, we embrace all forms of art – from music and comedy to literature, theatre, film, and beyond. Our festival is a celebration of creativity in all its forms, featuring:

🎶 World-class music – from global legends Kool & The Gang to Belle & Sebastian, Capercaillie and Alex James’ Britpop Classical.

💃 Unforgettable dance beats – with Rudimental DJ, and exclusive Scottish show from Maribou State and Auntie Flo bringing infectious energy to the festival.

🎤 Engaging conversations – with fascinating personalities and thinkers including Louis Theroux, Ben Fogle, David Olusoga and Ian Hislop.

🤣 Side-splitting comedy – with some of the biggest names in comedy, including Russell Howard, Lou Sanders and Fred MacAulay.

🌿 A Love of Life – our 2026 theme put nature, creativity and connection at the heart of the festival. Erland Cooper created Sula bassana, with an accompanying film by Lewis Gourlay; Brian d’Souza (Auntie Flo) explored the hidden rhythms of the natural world with Plants Can’t Dance; Naomi Watt created The Nest; and Vision Mechanics brought the community together for the spectacular The Flock parade.

📚 Thought-provoking ideas – writers, artists, environmentalists and cultural voices explored our relationship with the natural world, creativity and each other across the 10 days.

👨‍👩‍👧 Fantastic family experiences – a packed programme of shows, workshops and free activities across the festival site.

With a mix of stunning venues – from the buzzing Big Top and intimate Lodge Stage to the immersive Film Dome, the Times Lounge, and the Kids Zone – there’s a space for every kind of performance and experience.

Year after year, Fringe by the Sea continues to evolve, bringing together a diverse mix of artists, audiences, and ideas. Set along Scotland’s beautiful coastline, it offers an inspiring and welcoming space for creativity to thrive.
