Award‑winning jazz vocalist and historian Ali Affleck celebrates the great jazz singers of the late 1920s to the 1950s in this much‑loved show.
More than a nostalgic tribute, Ali brings authenticity, deep knowledge and irresistible warmth as she shines a light on both iconic legends and the extraordinary and often overlooked women who helped shape jazz history.
A sell‑out favourite at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe for six years, Queens of Swing features Ali alongside long‑time collaborators Colin Steele (trumpet), Roy Percy (bass), Timmy Allan (guitar) and Jim Drummond (drums), bringing the golden age of jazz vividly, joyously to life.
A must for lovers of swing, storytelling and the pioneering women of early jazz.
This event includes two sets of 40 minutes each.
All ages are welcome. Under 16s must be accompanied by an over 18.
This is a seated event (unreserved). A limited number of seats are available to reserve by selecting the Accessible Platform ticket.

Edinburgh clarinettist Hamish McGregor brings his love of the three B’s Ball, Barber and Bilk to a special programme of their best‑loved tunes. Joined by Charles Dearness, Dave Batchelor, Roy Percy, Campbell Normand, Duncan Findlay and Alastair Morrow, he leads a feel‑good set that’s accessible, nostalgic and impossible not to move to.

Expect classics including Midnight in Moscow, Petite Fleur, Bourbon Street Parade, King of the Swingers and Stranger on the Shore. It’s the cool cat’s answer to pop jazz for people who don’t think they like jazz and guaranteed to leave you with a song in your heart and a swing in your step.
