MASTER PARTNERS NORTH BERWICK TRUST AWARDS £30,000 TO FRINGE BY THE SEA

North Berwick Trust Ltd is once again supporting Fringe By the Sea and has awarded the maximum grant award of £30,000 to the festival set to run in North Berwick from 5th – 14th August 2022.

This is the third consecutive year that North Berwick Trust has sponsored the event and, as Chair of the Trust, Sir David Tweedie, explains, ‘It’s fantastic to be able to support such a wonderful community-minded festival and to see so many folk out enjoying themselves. Last year’s event really lifted everyone’s spirts and was a life-line for our local economy’.

In 2021 over 39,000 people attended the festival generating a £3.1 million economic boost for East Lothian. With social distancing restrictions easing, FBTS Director, Rory Steel, plans for increased visitor numbers this year and explains how, ‘the support of North Berwick Trust is vital for Fringe By The Sea’s viability, and so we’re thrilled the trustees have chosen to support our event once again.  We’re looking forward to showcasing town at its very best, and offering a hospitable welcome to residents and visitors alike.”

The heart of the festival will be based at North Berwick’s Lodge Grounds, following the success of the big top venue in 2021. The Trust will have a home at the festival for the duration of the event, showcasing its work including its grants programme and land management projects.

Once again, the Trust plans to fund wildflowers to be planted by East Lothian Council amenity team in partnership with North Berwick In Bloom at the festival site, following a striking display of blue cornflowers and yellow marigolds to match last year’s big top stripes.

North Berwick Trust Ltd was established in 1973 to support and benefit local residents and their dependents. Since North Berwick’s ‘Forever Fund’ was established in 2018, the Trust has awarded nearly £1 million in grants to support 124 community projects. The Trust supports a wide range of organisations, charities and individuals in need who live or operate within North Berwick.

If you are interested in applying for a grant, the next round opens Wednesday 30th April 2022 and closes Wednesday 11th May. Visit www.northberwicktrust.co.uk to download an application form.
