Sound, Story & Sauna is a collaboration between Paul Speers of Sound Bath Studio and storyteller Sarah MacGillivray.

An immersive evening where sound and storytelling blend seamlessly, carrying you somewhere else entirely. Rooted in the rich folklore of East Lothian, the tale unfolds through whispers of the land, sea, and sky, brought to life with layered soundscapes and spoken word that invite your imagination to wander freely.

Let yourself be held in the story, surrounded by sound… and as the final notes fade, ease into the warmth of the sauna, time to rest, reflect, and simply be.

Artist and filmmaker Holger Mohaupt presents a new work inspired by North Berwick’s seaside heritage, featuring a life‑size recreation of the beach huts once common on the shore until the 1970s.

Developed from conversations with local craftsman Stuart Auld, whose family has built huts, deckchairs and windbreaks since 1876, the installation includes a special on‑site audio piece and a new 360° immersive film.

Supported by North Berwick Trust, Liverpool John Moores University, Rock & Bird and ARIS Collective.

 

Under 16s must be accompanied by an over 18.

This is a seated event. The Dome venue is wheelchair accessible.

Còmhla are hosting a pop-up restaurant at Fringe by the Sea this year. Throughout the festival they will be offering a refined yet relaxed set menu featuring local East Lothian suppliers, a selection of bar snacks, and a list of organic wines and cocktails expertly curated by Slonk. Serving daily from midday, with an additional earlier brunch sitting on weekends. Although walk-ins will be possible, we recommend pre-booking online to avoid disappointment.
